This handrail is a big project we completed last year in a very prestigious new office space just off Oxford Street,
This project started out as a handrail leather wrap but it grew in size with us supplying and making a very large wall mirror in the same leather to match the handrail. We also produced a TV wall for the client for their main lounge.
The wooden rail itself had some issues and looked a little underwhelming but did have some detail like the monkey tails to finish. The client choose a black croco Italian Leather made for upholstery use so this will give longevity to the handrails. The black leather worked really well with the black balustrades and blended in really well with the style of property. The leather was firstly cut to fit the handrails in our studio after a visit to the property to make templates, and then we went back to the property and glued and hand stitched the leather in place using a cross stitch.
The client also asked us to produce a mirror to be made to match the same leather as the handrail.They wanted the mirror to hang on a very large wall overlooking the staircase.the mirror was a massive 2.6mtrs x 1.6 mtrs using a 100mm wide frame and 6mm safety back mirror glass.
We were also asked by the client to create a Leather wall to accommodate their tv. They choose a silver hand finished leather with a slight distressed finish. We made up the wall in 3 sections and made cut outs in the woodwork to accommodate the light sconces and light switches.
This Project was in Basil Street in London for a Bespoke Hotel. This was a steel rail wrapped in a Havanah Brown textured leather which was hand stitched on site.
This project was in Wentworth. It was a solid wood rail wrapped in a soft textured dark grey leather running on a steel core rail. You can see the sharp twists in the rail it was a challenge but it has had amazing feedback.
